What could you try for the first time?

I’m interested in exploring an ashram for spiritual growth and to take a break from my daily routine

What principles define how you live?

My life is guided by three fundamental principles:1. The Christian tenet of loving my neighbor as I love myself. 2. Respecting the beliefs of others as I do my own. 3. Providing love and care for my family for as long as I am able.

What have you been putting off doing? Why?

I have been postponing a trip to Jerusalem, the sacred land for three religions, because traveling to any region with political instability can be daunting. Jerusalem holds great religious and historical significance, and visiting such place will be a transformative experience.I hope peace will come to the region and I will be able to visit the sacred land

When was the first time you really felt like a grown up (if ever)?

I felt grown up at age 12 when I began teaching catechism to underprivileged children in Bolivia. It was then that I realized my life had a purpose: to seek God and assist others in their quest.

If you had a million dollars to give away, who would you give it to?

If I had a million dollars to give away, I would distribute half among my four children. The remaining amount would be allocated to cancer research, religious studies, and international charities aiding the destitute.

What’s something you would attempt if you were guaranteed not to fail.

Nothing in this world is foolproof. There are no guarantees that we won’t encounter failure in any endeavor or action we undertake. We are all vulnerable to setbacks and bear moral responsibility for our actions.

What was the hardest personal goal you’ve set for yourself?

One of the toughest challenges I’ve faced in life is living by Jesus’ words: “Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.” Truly forgiving those who have wronged us is a daunting task. Embracing this principle as a life goal has proven immensely difficult for me.

Who are your favorite artists?

My favorite artists span various categories. Among orchestra conductors, I admire the Indian Zubin Mehta and the Venezuelan Gustavo Dudamel. The New York Philharmonic stands out as my preferred orchestra. In the realm of opera singers, sopranos Aida Garifullina and Ana Netrebko captivate me, as does the tenor Plácido Domingo, and Juan Diego Flores. Leonardo DiCaprio and Renée Zellweger are incredibly talented actors who have delivered memorable movie performances over the years.

What is your favorite hobby or pastime?

My favorite pastime is immersing myself in classical music, especially symphonic pieces and operas. Whether it’s Beethoven or the likes of Verdi and Bellini, I feel elevated and touch the essence of the divine.

What would you do if you lost all your possessions?

There are three scenarios in which I might lose all my worldly possessions. First, a nuclear catastrophe; in such a situation, there’s little to do besides hope and, likely, meet the Divine. Second, a natural calamity like a hurricane, earthquake, or tornado; in this case, insurance would likely cover my losses, allowing for recovery. Lastly, a financial debacle; facing this at my age, I would seek refuge with one of my children, as starting over would be almost impossible.
