Beyond my immediate family, I find great joy in the company of friends who share my passion for delving into life’s profound questions. Together, we explore the essence of our existence, the intricate nature of consciousness, and our connection to the divine. Our conversations navigate the mysteries of why we are here, whether consciousness originates from the brain or exists on a higher plane, and how we relate to the transcendent. Engaging with these topics not only enriches our intellectual landscape but also deepens our understanding of the universe and our place within it.

Tell us about your favorite pair of shoes, and where they’ve taken you.

I’m grateful to God for having shoes, recognizing that many people around the world lack the means to afford them. This awareness underscores the importance of empathy and support for those in need.

Mere Christianity” by C.S. Lewis – Originally a series of radio talks given during World War II, Lewis’s book is a layman’s guide to Christian belief, including arguments for the existence of God from morality and human nature, reading it affected my relationship with the Divine and closer to Christianity

Write about your approach to budgeting.

In the educational phase, my budget was very tight, focused on minimizing expenses due to limited income. As I entered my early professional days, my approach shifted towards leveraging credit, including financing for housing, a car, and entertainment, which introduced a high debt level. Moving into middle age, my focus pivoted towards savings and investments, prioritizing financial security and growth. Now, in the latter stage of life, I’ve adopted a balanced budget approach, aiming to maintain financial stability and comfort.

Are you patriotic? What does being patriotic mean to you?

My patriotism is rooted in a profound appreciation for the freedoms, values, and opportunities the United States provides, which have significantly shaped my identity and instilled in me a strong sense of belonging and community. This deep-seated connection motivates me to make positive contributions to our society. However, I firmly reject jingoism and extreme nationalism, as I believe in a patriotism that values critical reflection and inclusivity, recognizing the importance of unity and respect for diverse perspectives within our nation.

Have you ever unintentionally broken the law?

Throughout my life, there have been instances where I’ve inadvertently failed to fully comply with the law, including exceeding speed limits, not coming to a complete stop at red lights, and not fully disclosing income on tax returns. These actions were not out of deliberate disregard for the law but rather lapses in judgment. I recognize the importance of laws as foundational to societal coexistence and strive to adhere to them more conscientially

the focus of my life has been an ongoing effort to find a balance or meeting point between these ideals, implying a process or struggle.

What were your parents doing at your age?

At my age, my mother was taking care of my father, who had recently suffered a stroke. Both of them, fervent Catholics, continued praying and showing love for us, their three children,

If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?

I would reverse the Supreme Court’s decision on June 24, 2022, to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark ruling that had previously protected a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction.
